Call for abstracts

The Symposium will cover ceramic- and glass-based materials relevant for various healthcare sectors, with particularattention to regenerative medicine and nanomedicine, including personalized therapies. The Symposium will particularly focus on innovativenanoparticles, bioactive ceramics and hybrid nano-composites, as well as on new concepts and approaches for the design and production of 3-Dbiomimetic devices with cell-instructive ability and superior physico-chemical-mechanical properties driving and sustainingnatural metabolic processes. The Symposium will also focus on magnetic materialsand graphene-based nanomaterials for biomedical applications, with particular interest in smart materials enabling remote activation of specific functions such as drug delivery, imaging, diagnosis and targeted local therapies. In vitro and in vivo studies of advanced ceramics and glass-based devices are also a topic of great interest in the Symposium.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Innovative synthesis processes for active biomaterials
  • Calcium phosphates
  • Bioactive porous ceramics and composites
  • Hybrid composites for bone and dental regeneration
  • Functional bioactive nanoparticles
  • Magnetic nanomaterials
  • Reinforced bioceramics for load-bearing applications
  • Injectable biomaterials
  • Functionalization methods
  • Drug delivery systems
  • New processes for 3-D bioceramicfabrication
